It’s officially 2012 now, actually it was officially 2012 twenty-four hours ago. I’m very excited for this year (of course I say that every year) because I’ve decided to stop freelancing on the side. I’ve been freelancing on a pretty consistent basis for the past 7 years and it’s been an amazing time. I learned a lot about myself and my work ethic and what it takes to be a professional artist working – more or less – for yourself. I’ve also experienced what it takes, in terms of sacrifice as well. That’s why I’ve decided to stop.
I made the decision almost 6 months ago, I let all my clients know, and wrapped everything up before the end of 2011. It’s kind of a sad thing, the end of a huge part of my life. Of course I still work full time as a graphic designer and I’m sure there will be the odd job on the side I’ll do for some illustration gigs. But right now I’ll be devoting a HUGE part of my time to the comic.
I’ve got lots of things lined up for this year and new story lines that I am itching to draw and write. I will also be taking some time off from the comic this month (January). I will probably get a few more comics up this month, but I want to take some time to get some stuff for @khulebusch and my wedding done (we will be married in June). I also need to finish Space Cats and other such nonsense, as well as some other offline, personal things.
I’ll also be writing the Crankus story line for February and plotting out other story lines for the year to come. It’s gonna be a busy month, even though the comic won’t update 3 times a week for a bit, but on the other side the year will be much better for it.
Thank you all very much for supporting me, the comic and my passion for this medium. Here’s to 2012. Let’s make it awesome (or at least until the Mayan Calendar kills us all)

I certainly wouldn’t take any chances either! Love all the details Thomas.
Hehe, yeah, why mess with bad luck when we can use all the good luck we can get
Thanks for the kind words Mark. I’m working on improving my use of props and color this year so hopefully that right mix of enough props will gel in the coming months
